I have a 91 Wrangler with a 4 inch lift and 33 inch tires...I recently put in a rebuilt transmission and new clutch and was told that I should do a driveshaft angle reduction and gear swap...I currently have 4:10 gears and was told to switch to 4:88 gears...Is this necessary? What is the benefit? What are the drawbacks if i don't do it?

The Jeep is slow now and 5th gear is basically useless I am assuming from the lift and big tires with the 4:10 gears...

Any ideas? Oh yeah and what am I l

4.88s are the way to go. You'll get 5th gear back! It should turn 3000rpms at 71mph in 5th gear with that setup. I'm waiting for the fun tickets and that's exactly what I'm going to do!
