I recently serviced my 93 XJ, 4L 6 Cyl, in the process I
broke my oil pressure sensor. I replaced the sensor with an
after market sensor and since then when I get the engine hot
my oil pressure gauge drops to just above zero at idle. It
kicks up to about 40(normal)when its under a load. I used
10w-30 during the service. This has concerned me quite a
bit being that this problem did not exist until I changed
the sensor. At idle, when I am reading low pressure I have
pulled my fill cap to see t"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as their going to feel all day!" Frank Sinatra
My stock 98 XJ does the same thing. It has ever since it
was bought new and it has 158,000 miles. I'd get it check
out but i wouldn't worry.Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
My 96 does the same thing and and I am running 10w-40 and it
only has 109000 miles. Tried 10w-40 to see if it would make
the gauge read different. Installed an after market mechanical pressure guage a couple
of days ago and put it to the test over the weekend. All
pressure stayed in range, guess that takes care of that!!"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as their going to feel all day!" Frank Sinatra
