I own A 1987 YJ and when i go to start the engine it starts, then cuts off immediately or the engine will run for a good time then when i try to put it in gear the idle drops till the engine cuts out. i have tried to see if there was any kinds of wire harnesses loose or maybe the Distributor wasn't working working right but checked it and its fine. I worked with the idle to c if it needed adjusting but it didnt. cant figure this out someone plz help?

Check your vacuum lines to be sure that none are cracked or dry rotted.
