hey man, if your going to to a SOA conversion, don't forget
the drop pitman arm, and either some heavy duty springs, or
a traction bar. Full traction makes some 0in lift springs
that are made for SOA they also make 2.5in Lift springs for
the same. I have a skyjacker 5th link traction bar that
works nicely. Be sure you overdo the weld on the rearend
side of the traction bar, as mine broke off twice before i
went all out. When welding on the rear axle housing, make
sure there is no weight on the axle. ie lift it from the
frame.Jeeps are a drug that is legal and expensive, get you one Whitney Houston
I have the stock YJ springs on mine. They are ok, but i
wish i had the money to by the full traction springs. oh. If
you think, no i don't need a traction bar. consider this. I
broke 3 rear yokes, and i snapped my transfer case in half
pre tractionbar, I have not broken anything at all post
tractionbar. you will be fine with the stock front
driveshaft, but it is better to go ahead and get a SYE kit
with a CV rear driveshaft. or any kind of custom driveshaft
will be fine.Jeeps are a drug that is legal and expensive, get you one Whitney Houston
the only trouble that i had when i did mine was trying to
find the angle of the dangle as we call it. the angle
comming out of the front drive shaft and the trany, i also
added a SYE with a cv drive shaft and no problem yet. and
yea well the crap out of those purches. i did a drop
pittman arm, and luckely i did have to get a high steer kit
yet, i only have and SOA with a 3" body lift and 35" tires
and plenty of room to go
If done correctly you will not need a drop pitman, but you
will need to invest in a true high steer kit.
SOA are not cheap, you will need an SYE for the rear, you
need to remember to purchased extended brake lines, highly
recommend the track bar, that is next to be installed on my
rig.
I run the rubicon express springs f/r made specific for SOA
(love them; I ran the stock ones at first but after 3 runs
they started to fade fast, and sag.) if you're going to mess
with your springs might as well do yourself a favor and
upgrade to greasable shackle bolts, consider boomerang
shackles front and rear, my rig rolls smoother than
stock.
You can find pictures and information in my profile, pm or
email me if I can answer or assist with any questions.
I did an axle swap while I was at it food for though while
you are, if you're going to go through the trouble to go SOA
and spend a lot of time dialing in the proper degree angle
on the front axle might as well do it once.
