I was allowed to drive my bf's 85 CJ-7 a couple times and
obviously fell in love instantly. The first time he told me
I couldn't drive it because he was taking it, I knew I
needed my own! Months later, I was the proud owner of a '80
CJ-7 Green Bomber! Seriously it's an addiction. Not only
does his dad have one, but now his Sister and my Brother
both have one. And the sickness spreads!
Just a girl with a Jeep!!! That's right, a black '80 CJ-7 that's all mine...to fix! Hey, girls can have toys too!!

In 1990 my wifes nephew offered me the cj5 he got from his
dad. His mother had just bought him a new Best Top
Suppertop and four new tires. He wanted $600. dallors to
get a down payment for a pick-up. So I bought the top and
got free tires and a jeep.
I like the body style, pleases my eye, the extra room in
the back for passengers over the CJ5 and have had this one
for over 16 years, it's closer to family than a ride, grin
I have wanted one since i was 5 right when they switched to
the square head lights and i new that
the old CJ's were for me...
then a buddy of mine was leaveing and left the one that he
had to me it was a dream come true. Currently a twigdet learning the ways of the Gear Head PLEASE be patient...
Friend had a early Jeep when i was a kid, 59 I think, anyway
it was great for off roading in upstate NY so after years of
wanting one I picked up an 85 CJ7.
It started for me when I was 10 or so a friends dad had a
1959 fc 150 to me that was the coolest truck out there but a
top speed of 41 mph down hill just didn't do it for me then
a saw a 1978 levi cj-7 with a 304 v8 and i wanted one as
soon as i could drive
My first cj was a hand me down from my dad, and needed some
TLC after 6mos of work we went on our first
ride to so.west virginia.buetiful
trails and great views back in 1988 and recently I took my
family to a jamboree at snowshoe wv and they loved it. So I guess I
was hooked from the time I started driving.
I mean come on is there any thing on the road or off the
road for that matter that has the style, the look, the
coolness, the bad a$$ness, the fun of driving, the fun of
fixing it often" because its a cj" I love every CJ out
there.GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS
my passion started for me when dad boughta 86 cj7 i learn to
drive a manual in & then he said i could have it when i
turned 16 up & sold when i was 15 & ever since i
wanted one. bought my own 2000 C.P. edtion & that just
did not do it you would have thought a 25000 dollar rig
would have been good but it was not good enough then i found
my 79 cj5 & fell in love runs great drives even better
then the 2000 & looks like billions (more than our
country is in debt for)better than anything they have came
out with since & the cj7 would fit the bill too. but my
5 is all i need. Thats my story & i am sticking to
it...Oyeah i forgot when i am topless & the doors are
off i like to see people next to me roll there windows up
because of my side pipes....escpically the low rides....
CJ's are just the way of life......it is a jeep thing......Tread Lightly!!

Everytime i would go t omy friends house i would see his
cj-7 and his neighbor had one just sitting in his yard and
he was about to move so i offered him 200 dollars and he
said okay. And thats why i got one. Now its just sitting in
my garage not running.
I bought my first CJ7 in 1983 - loved every minute of it -
well, almost every minute. I remember driving all the way
up to Canada without a top or doors and most of the way
through Oregon with the windshield folded down and wearing
goggles! I also remember driving around Beverly Hills with
a muddy Jeep and a snake coiled around the roll bar. I
loved the rich people's reaction among all the clean
Mercedes, Porsches and BMWs.
Now I have my second CJ7. For me, the it's the simple
dashboard, the lack of "hi tech" in the vehicle and the
rugged classic look. Some of the design "flaws" like the
carb & vac nightmare, the dumb passenger side mirror
issue, the wipers that sit at 45 degrees on the windshield,
etc. have been remedied this time around. Guns don't kill people... Bad trail spotters do.
I traded my 98 Wrangler for a 85 CJ7 that has been
restored. I wanted it because it had been restored and i
dont have to mess with computer/wires and all that extra
junk put on the newer engines that goes out, plus it has a
v8 I
choose carburetor over fuel injection! '85 CJ-7 Renegade 304 swap/TF999/Dana 300, American Racing Baja 15x10, 33" Dueller MT's, Optima Battery, Smittybilt XRC-8, Cobra 19 Ultra III/ 4' Firestick/ 15w PA
"You dont need A/C in a Jeep, the f***ing doors come off!"
I finally got my dream since high school (class of 83).
When I was in high school it was muscle cars, lowered mini
trucks, or built V8 CJ's. I went the muscle car route, but
my friends had some awesome Jeeps. I finally found a 77
CJ-7 with a 360 and an automatic trans (I lost the feeling
in my left foot due to on the job injuries), so I bought it
as a simple toy. It is getting gutted of everything to its
purest form of simplicity-no top, no doors, no heater, no
windshield wipers, no radio, just a few gauges, no carpet,
no nothing but open air and V8 noise, surrounded in real
metal. I am loving the thing.
Middle age crisis? I found myself on ebay and looking down
back roads before I found the right one for me. In order to
get the one I wanted........I had to pretend to want an
expensive piece of junk yj with a 4cyl and 5 speed for
$3200. That made the 64 cj5 with the buick V6 and chevy 4spd
I bought for $2100 seem so much better to her. Probably
wouldn't have gone so cheap if the seller hadn't described
it as "Frankenstiened". Glad he did. The crazy thing has a
crawl ratio of 94:1 and I run with rubicon's, big t and
yj's, whatever. I really don't want anything else. Oh ya, as
for my wife, I bought her a 79 cj5 for her birthday. It is
definetly a sickness.
