I just bought a '92 wrangler that has had some minor mods
done such as an electric fan, upgraded Air Intake system,
and aftermarket radio but am looking to give the engine some
more kick while not destroying the MPG. Any suggestions?'92 Jeep Wrangler

If its a 4 popper you are gonna be limited on what you can
do. Your best bet is to start looking into a I6 The Jeep Wave I Wave...Do You? www.militaryjeepers.com
re gearing if you have bigger tires, or if you got the 4
angry squirrels you swap the throttle body the bigger 4.0L.
I did that, and I felt a huge difference. The real test comes when all strength has fled and man must produce victory on will alone...
It has the 4.0l Straight 6 engine in there, but I think that
the gearing is the problem. Any idea how much I should be
expecting to pay for the gears to be changed? I heard its
pretty expensive'92 Jeep Wrangler

Most regearing quotes I have heard are in $1,500 range for
both axles and they supply the gears.2000 2.5L 5spd 4.10, 2" coil spacers and XJ springs up front, Crown-Vic springs in the rear, Edelbrock Xtreme IAS shocks, 33" Timberline M/Ts, JKS "Quicker" discos, Srockworks rock sliders, 04 Willys Edition front seats, Still looking for a matching rear seat!
At 4wheelparts i was looking for 4:88 they where going to
cost 500 roughy for ring and pinon, just depends if you set
them up or not. with labor not sureArmed Forces Jeeps Oregon Jeep Club Fort Lewis Off Road
Damn that is expensive. For that much I might just drive
down to FL to my buddies shop and get him to do it. Will be
about the same price with travel but hell its Fl haha'92 Jeep Wrangler

I just had 4.88s installed in my Rubicon. I'm seeing a full
1 to 1.5 MPG increase with daily driving. I'm running 35s
with lots of armor and hvy bumpers. I've seen a huge
increase in forward momentum, but now I top out at 65 MPH at
2,700 RPM. I don't drive on the interstate.'05 Rubicon; 4.88; Nth DEG 6"; 35x12.50x17 M/T MTZ
Im thinking what I might do is try to find a V8 I can swap
in there, upgrade the trans and axles, and loving life lol.
thats what my first couple years of pay will go toward.'92 Jeep Wrangler
